DESIGN AWARD 2022LOPATUBA

You don't just buy Javorina oak chairs for yourself, but also for the next generation. They don't creak, they don't wobble, they can carry just about anyone and thanks to a design that respects the very archetype of chairs, they won't be out even after years. Beautiful examples are the Lopa and Tuba chairs by designers Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák.

Lopa

A modern interpretation of a classic piece that no home can do without. The overall subtle look of the Lopa chair was achieved by designers Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák by thinning the rounded edges of the seat and backrest, which resemble the shape of a lens. Even with the use of solid oak wood for all components, the Lopa chair retains an acceptable weight and visual lightness. The minimalist look of the chairs goes hand in hand with the refined design. The use of solid wood has made it possible to completely omit all fasteners from the Lopa chair.

"Thanks to the possibility of working with solid oak wood, we could afford to recess the legs and then glue them in at the bottom of the seat and backrest. Compared to conventional products, this created a larger contact area, which allowed us to completely omit screwing while maintaining the absolute strength and compactness of the entire chair," adds Vladimír Žák.In autumn 2022, Lopa won the prestigious design award - the Grand Prix in the international competition BIG SEE - where life is creativity.

Tuba

Armchair made exclusively from solid oak wood. Sturdy and almost indestructible, yet subtle and above all - comfortable! The harmonious expression has gained thanks to the design from the Vrtiška & Žák studio."Our aim was to create a visually unpretentious chair inspired by traditional form, while maintaining maximum comfort. We stuck to the basic principle that the chair must work aesthetically when looking at its back. This is the angle from which we most often perceive it," explains designer Roman Vrtiška.The back is also one of the main benefits of this oak chair. The backrest is thoughtfully tapered and comfortably wide to provide comfort even when sitting for long periods. This makes the Tuba chair not only suitable for family gatherings at home, but also for maximum use in cafes and restaurants. Both chairs are available in several colours and with the option of an upholstered seat cushion.
